Two national schemes matter for most people in Odisha: PM Surya Ghar for rooftops and PM-KUSUM for irrigation. We file both, and we track them to disbursal rather than to submission.
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
A national rooftop programme offering households free monthly units and central financial assistance credited straight to the applicant’s bank account.

Who qualifies, in plain terms
- An Indian household with a valid domestic electricity connection.
- A shade-free roof area you own or have written consent to use — roughly 70 sq ft per kW.
- A bank account linked for direct benefit transfer.
- No existing subsidised rooftop system against the same connection.
- Installation by a registered vendor using listed equipment.
Scheme terms are set by the ministry and revised periodically. Treat this page as orientation, not as the rulebook — we verify current conditions against the portal for your specific case.
What to keep ready
- Recent electricity bill showing consumer number and sanctioned load.
- Identity and address proof for the connection holder.
- Bank passbook or cancelled cheque for the disbursal account.
- Roof ownership proof, or owner consent if tenanted.
- Passport photograph of the applicant.
PM-KUSUM for agricultural pumping
Central and state assistance for standalone and grid-connected solar irrigation pumps, administered through state nodal agencies. In Odisha that route runs via OREDA.

About subsidies and applications
How much subsidy will I actually receive?
Central financial assistance under PM Surya Ghar is tiered by system size, with a stated ceiling per household. Rates are revised by the ministry from time to time, so we confirm the current applicable figure for your sanctioned load during the survey rather than quoting a number that may have moved.
Who pays the subsidy, and when?
It is credited directly to your bank account by the government after commissioning and inspection, not deducted from our invoice. You pay the full system cost, then receive the assistance on disbursal.
How long does disbursal take?
Typically a few weeks after net-metering and inspection are complete, though it varies with DISCOM and portal processing. We track the application and chase it on your behalf until it lands.
Does PM-KUSUM work the same way?
No. KUSUM covers agricultural pumping and runs through state agencies with different components, eligibility and share. We handle those applications separately.
